Living in Barrington Estates is a breath of fresh air. From the paved walking paths you can view the beautiful perennials as you take your morning walk. You can enjoy a wonderful conversation with kind, respectful neighbors; this is one neighborhood that is like family. There are numerous community gatherings as well as a Barrington Estates Facebook page that keeps everyone informed and connected to each other. Barrington Estates is abounding in green space and beautiful homes, all within walking distance or a very short drive to every major retail store and restaurant option you could imagine!
Barrington Estates is home to Westerville City Schools. There are 15 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 high schools. The 3 high schools have been named among the best high schools in America. The district offers academic coaches, Advanced Placement courses, a high school International Baccalaureate program whose students are awarded a diploma rated higher than the international average, all this among other stellar programs.
Getting around in Barrington Estates is easy! There are sidewalks on every street and alongside biking paths. Many stores, parks, and restaurants are within walking distance or a short ride. The neighborhood speed limit is 25 mph and there is minimal traffic making it a great place for families. Golf carts are not permitted in the neighborhood but many residents can be seen biking or walking on a regular basis.
Barrington Estates is a safe neighborhood. Genoa Township provides a neighborhood watch program and neighbors watch out for one another yielding a strong sense of community safety. While there are no street lamps, numerous homes have gas lamps in the front yard, which provide ample light. Barrington Estates has its own neighborhood Facebook page that keeps everyone informed of crime occurring in the Westerville area. Emergency Services (Police, ER, Fire Dept., etc) are all within a three-mile radius.
There are a plethora of restaurants within walking distance or a very short drive. Just to name a few, but not limited to these, there is Antonio’s Pizza, Mitchell’s Steakhouse, Great Asian Restaurant, Minico’s Italian, Carrabbas, Brio, Northstar Café, 101 Beer Kitchen, and Rusty bucket.
The nearest grocery store is less than 2 miles from Barrington Estates. All the retail chains and providers you can imagine are within 3 miles! Uptown Westerville offers antiques, while Polaris Parkway has all the chain retail stores and a large-scale mall.
Within a 5-minute drive, there are many things to do. For instance, Top Golf, Miniature Golf and Batting Cages, Rave Cinemas Polaris Movie Theater, Dave & Buster’s Arcade Games, the Public Library, and the Hoover Reservoir Park.
In 1994, Centex homes broke ground for Barrington Estates. Over the course of the next few years (through 2003), they built approximately 180 residential homes. Over time, the community evolved by adding scenic walking paths, the Center Green Park, and walking/running paths that connect directly to Hoover Reservoir.
